12 Valve Production #s ???

I recently bought a 98 Ext Cab 4x4, 12 valve, SWB, w/5 Speed. I'm starting to hear this is kinda of rare combo.

Any have Production #s handy ??

their really not that rare....its just when you buy one you never let it go :D [coffee]

Its rare due to 3 reasons
1: It was only made for the first 6 months of the 98 production run
2: Over 1/2 the 98s that went out did so in the quad cab configuration.(locally it was tough to sell a extended cab once the quad cabs arrived)
3: I would also guess over 1/2 of all the CTD sold were autos so
if you knew what the overall production #s were for 98 I would say that truck would fall in 1/10 of that? However as mentioned what makes them even rarrer is that word is out on that combo and when it comes up someone is ussually on it.

I agree with JKM, but would be willing to take it off your hands to help a fellow Cummins owner.

Actually, if you get one in good shape spend the money to uprate the front suspension and steering gear box, make sure it has the complete shaft replacement for the fifth gear fix, nail the dowel pins, tighten and loctite the front gearcase and cover, and then keep it forever.

Roger that.

The PO did replace the Steering box, updated the steering arms to 2003 specs and added some other aftermarket type of Steering/Frame brace (Not sure the name brand). The KDP has been killed.

I haven't yet read/heard anything yet about this 5th gear shaft fix. Enlighten me! [eyecrazy]
