Help! Wont start
I have a 1992 cummins, all stock. I was driving the other day and pulled up to stop light and the truck started shaking (engine started running rough). I pulled into parking lot and shut it off. Hasnt started since. I havent been able to crack injectors to test for fuel yet but solenoid has power. Truck turns over like nothing is wrong just wont start. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

If you own a multimeter you can check the resistance of the pump solenoid.
Sometimes the coil just gives up, and you have voltage but no current goes through.
This would be my first test.
If this checks out OK, I'd check for fuel at the injectors.
And it would also be a good idea to check for a plugged fuel filter, a broken or torn fuel line that lets air enter the suction line before the lift pump, and the lift pump itself.
Take a piece of clear hose long enough to connect the water drain of the fuel filter to the fuel tank cap. Open the fuel drain and crank the engine. There should be a solid stream of bubble-free clean diesel.
If there is- my guess solenoid.
If there isn't - go backwards from the filter and look for the leak or defective part.
Normally those engines are extremely reliable and easily fixed. But a proper diagnosis is a must before throwing parts at them.
