wow im kicking myself in the a** right now i could see if he wants to sell it back to me....i didnt think they were super rare car.....we will prob. get in trouble talking about this on this forum....lol i hope not, whats a 5.9 with 348k worth?......and this book i have says they did offer a 425hp but im not calling you a liar at all man iv seen books be way wrong before!

 

$1500 may not be a steal for that 5.9, however buying it may give you the chance to talk him out of your old Monte again. Guess this is a case of "never be too hasty" when pulling a motor and selling a car. Good luck with it, you could always pull the engine and sell that 5.9L on ebay. Oh and 348k is low mileage on a 5.9 - mine passed that in June.

Plus rear-sump pans & exahust manifolds & turbos are readily avabile for that engine. Easy enough to prep it to go into a truck - or an old Buick LeSabre...

 

if i thought i could buy the motor and drop it in without tearing and down and at least checking everything out i would but the reason i want another 5.9 is to do a chevy swap and i couldnt put it in without rebuilding it.....so id be looking at a ton of cash there....maybe i can get him to drop the price....

 

Twisted, they only made 1919 454 SS Montes, the 425 Hp 454s were all installed in Chevelles and Corvettes. There was a case in 1970 where a couple of mule SS454 Montes "supposedly" got the 450 Hp 454/4 speed, but other than he said/she said evidence, nothing has been proven.

Where are you located? I might be able to get you a 5.9 way cheaper than that.........
