12V Smoke?
Ok, I dont need my truck to smoke, but I have seen some trucks smoke like crazy. I am just wondering what has to be done to make the truck smoke on command. Mine will smoke a bit, but as soon as the turbo catches up, which doesnt take very long at all, it clears up real fast. The only way to make my truck smoke at all is to goose it in park and watch the little poof come out or to let it lug in OD locked and then get into it. Is the manual tranny really a requirement for low end smoke by shifting into the next gear and lugging the engine? I would think with my mods I could be a little more impressive in that department if I wanted to be.

Seems like you should be able to smoke some more, but it sounds like you've got a pretty dialed in truck The auto tranny can't really lug the engine like a manual, so that's got some to do with it, plus, with 18* of timing, you're burning a good bit of that fuel, as opposed to sending it out the tailpipe. How's the power?

Power is great but the tranny isnt holding it. Slipps and shudders and spits all the time. Just waiting for it to go so I can replace it. My wife is going to hate me that day, anyhow, the truck puts down some good power, 396/783, but I think with a good tranny it would be more.

I would be if you were to get some 181 or 191 dv's you would see quite the difference. I've heard that the marine 370's have a stumble without them anyhow, but have never ran them myself.
