I have a 2001 2500 5.9L, automatic, stock except for fuel pressure warning light with a dead VP44. Anyone out there have a lead on a used pump ? This is going to be my first time trying to install myself. Took the truck to a local shop and they tried to get my for $5800. I am in the Seattle area. Any advice or help locating a vp44, or on the install it self would be most welcomed.
My truck died on the freeway, now it turns but does not start. Needed a new cam position sensor for a long time, changed it recently.
When I did the three key turn code check, nothing comes up except the companion code.
When the mechanic checked the codes, it showed :
P0252
P0341
P0253
P1689
P1688
Cleared codes and P1688 returns after cranking.

So, I think I need a VP44.

P0216 is the death code for the vp44- fuel delivery timing failure IIRC.

There is a good youtube series on replacing the vp44 and it is pretty good.

Don't ever go back to that shop, that's crazy. Call around and see what you come up with. The shops that work on semis can do it too.

I'd go to the code page and see what you have for codes, may not need a vp after all.
