0-60 PSI vs. 0-100 PSI fuel pressure gauge (pic)

I keep seeing to get a 60 PSI gauge, not 100 PSI.

Looking at the 100 PSI gauge, where the needle would be in it's "useable range", is it not accurate enough or what? I understand that there are 40 PSI of "wasted space". It only looks like the 0-10 PSI portion of the 100 PSI gauge is not useable, but anything under 20-25 PSI idle (down to 10) would be detected, and useable, no?

0-100 PSI:

0-60 PSI:

I checked the surplus gauge site, no white-faced 60 PSI gauges.

If you want serious hp, you need serious fuel pressure

For a 12 valve the gauge must be at least 40 psi or the gauge will be pegged all the time.
A gauge that reads normal when the needle is pointing straight up is the best, get a 60psi. Great use for a FP gauge is to note when the filter is plugging, with a 100 psi gauge the resolution won't be as good.
I spent countless hours in Vietnam rotating the gauges in helicopters so they read normal pointed straight up. The pilots loved it not having to read numbers, just looking at the needle position instead.

Makes sense on the resolution, that's the word I was looking for (used it when buying my dial indicators). I guess I'll have to decide which will bother me more...a needle not straight up, or a fuel pressure gauge that says oil pressure.

Wonder how hard it would be to open up that oil pressure gauge and put a label over it that said "fuel".

Dusty, I run an isspro 0-60

But i still have FP issues, (could be a busted gauge tho) I have 12-24 on average cruising to WOT, and at idle i have a whopping 8-10 psi. I dont know why tho, i do suspect the Overflow valve. For ur 24 valve truck dusty, a 30 psi would suffice, for my 12v a 60 psi "should" work best, but i seldom see it above what i stated, so even after a new LP and a new OFV, im startin to wonder what else (besides a busted gauge) that could be causin my low FP...

Sorry to rant and hijack, but i hope i did answer ur question

Rick

I was thinkin' that a 30 psi. would be enough for my 24-v, only problem is I found alot of the 100psi gauges on Ebay for around $50 vs. the $200+ for the 30 psi. gauge, what's the difference, does one come with the isolator & the other not or what???? thanks, Dusty

the 30psi autometers are electrical, and they come with a sensor you plumb into the fuel line, and a special harness that plugs into the sensor and the gauge.

Well I bought an A-pillar setup for 3 gauges...I figure fuel would be the most logical to put in there after boost & pyro (5-speed)...unless I wanted a clock. . Plus I'm having fuel troubles, I wouldn't mind seeing what my FP is at.

I used one just like the bottom one in the 1st thread. An autometer 0-60 psi blower gage.

Works great !!!
