Update:
He survived the first two nights, and there are some indications that give reason for hope.
The lung that has been flooded with blood is recovering, and he did not need more blood the last night. They can't say anything about potential brain damage due to lack of oxygen yet, but are cautiously optimistic.
They think that the weekend will bring a decision when he will be allowed to wake up.
