What year of truck are we talking about? The Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor on the (04) 5.9L diesel engine is located near the thermostat housing.

Fill in your signature.

If memory serves it's located on the left side, at the rear of the head....if you look at the valve cover for #6 it should be straight down on the sideof the head.

I am trying to help moparkid locate this sensor and we are having no luck at all. The sensor we are looking for is not the sensor on the back left side of the engine. I belive that is the sensor for the gauge it only has a single wire. The sensor we are looking for has two wires and it is what the computer looks at for engine temp. I have found the diagram to locate the components for the left side but that dosent show the sensor we are looking for. Does anyone know where to find the diagram for the right side. I feel like we are banging our heads against the wall here. Thanks for the help fellas!!!!

I found a diagram online that shows a temp sensor on the right side in or under the intake even with cly#4 but I cannot find it on the motor. Would there really be a sensor inside the intake the diagram is hard to tell what they are trying to say. I sure didnt see any wires going in there.
