Wow... I had an 89 CTD with the 5speed and my friend had an 83 6.2. I had near 400,000km on mine before I did injectors and replaced the clutch once. His 6.2 is where I learned how to rebuild them in a week. We did it about 3 times between cracked heads and replacing the cams.

We had a few of this trucks at the last company I worked for..I heard that if you don't let them cool down after a long run...the heads or blocks like to crack...

I had a '94 Blazer 4x4 with the 6.5 diesel as a company truck. Never was very impressed with it. Never had any problems with it, but the performance was pretty unspectacular. I averaged about 18mpg on the highway, but man, that thing was a dog.

The GM 5.7 was an Olds block but the 6.2 and 6.5 were both Detroit Diesel engines built under license by GM. Twogun
