Big Rigs Talk about other Cummins powered vehicles here. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even have to be Cummins, but it will be diesel! :)

Me and my uncle were at the concrete yard yesterday and back in the corner was this good lookin old semi. We determined it was a peterbilt, and we just couldn't figure out a year. We decided 46-47, but was hoping someone could clear it up for us. It's a single axle, dual trannys truck. Cummins engine

Pretty good shape for being so old, had a wood ceiling and wood door jambs. Owner of the place said it's for sale, used to be a tow truck apparently.

Looks like a 270, I could be wrong. Looks like a HB series Cummins, most likely 150 hp.

Definitely looks like a 270. And chances are it is an hb 600 cummins (most common). It sure would make for a pretty bad *** rat rod!!

Thanks for the info guys! I was thinking the same thing Dan. I wanna ask how much he'll take for it, but I don't think a peterbilt rat rod is in the budget for me right now. And I know I'll be too tempted to but it!

I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but I've been looking high and low for a Cummins HB600 with no luck. Does anyone know if this truck is still there, and if so, which yard it's at? Any help is appreciated.

Hey, the truck was actually sold. The new owner now just have it sitting at his personal yard (he owns a diesel shop), and it's been like that for a while now, not too long after I made this thread

Gotcha. Mind if I ask what the name of the shop is? Might give him a call to see if he wants to part with it.
