I've never been but would be interesting to check out plus I'm sure it's nice country outside of the city.
That would be awesome! There is a really nice campground 1 mile from our house.

A friend of mine was working at Firebag on a a 2 in, 2 out schedule. The downside to the fly in jobs is they usually make you give up something. For guys like me, they make us sign away our double time. Might be an issue for you guys as well. Those 'free' flights aren't free, after all.

i think i could handle no double time???

if they paid my flights in and out.

bottom line is i have to leave this town or give up any dreams of early retirment...........or any toys
almost every tradesperson in this town struggles to make ends meat...paycheck to paycheck and not cause they live high on the hog either.
like $25-28 bucks a hour is GREAT money in this town.combined with slow winters =58240 minus the shitty ours you get in the winter.
so $50k if your lucky

i have never had to do that..untill moving to the sunshine capital.

And after being onshift now with my crew now for a few days at suncor, there's 2 or 3 guys that were over $200k last year. One guy reached $240 he told me. Not bad for a bunch of stupid mechanics 'eh. If you put in the overtime the Money is there.

That kind if money is not universally expected though. Only right here. Or in the oilfield overseas.

And this is what I've been told so far by the guys on my crew. I have no reason to believe they'd be lying but you never know right. I mean I'll find out first hand in time.

If you work through your days off and work 12+ hr shifts, you'll make a killing. Being up there is good for that. But what kind of life do you have besides work? Gotta strike that balance. I'm quite content working 5-6 months a year.

I worked my nuts off last year and tagged just over half of that kind of money. And that's going months at a stretch without 2 days off in a row. On call 24/7. Exactly..... What kind of life is that.

I can have waaaay more time off this year. And make waaaay more money doing it. This is not my first rodeo as they say.

A few years ago I was working 16 hour shifts & averaging 100 hr / week for 24 k / year as a locksmith
this year I worked 70 days in a row bu at least the pay was better in Ft Mc , it is a given you will have no life in Alberta but you have to get paid for it .

Any mechanic at a dealer here makes at least 200k a year. The really good ones make 250 and I heard about one guy that pretty consistently made 300 k. They get paid 56.50/ HR on flat rate
