If you haven't checked them out yet, I'd give Dave Smith Motors a call. Perhaps you might find a better deal. Just let them know exactly what you need. When we bought our truck, they were offering complementary flights into Idaho to buy a truck (we made a trade passing through). Not certain they are still doing it.

Since the AISIN has dual overdrives (5th and 6th gears) there's not much need to be concerned with a 4.10 equipped truck. In 6th gear, there's *maybe* 200---250 rpm difference at 65 mph between 3.73's and 4.10's. The 4.10's.....coupled with the much deeper 1st & 2nd gear ratios of the AISIN.....make for the best tow experience one can ask for.[/QUOTE/]
Can you please explain about the dual over drives.?
Is there a way to lock the gear in so it doesn't shift up or down?

Your NV4500 manual transmission is direct drive in 4th gear 1:1 and has an overdrive ratio of .73:1 in 5th gear. The AISIN is 1:1 in 4th gear, .77:1 5th gear, and .63:1 in 6th gear---thus two overdrive gears.
You can use the ERS (Electronic Range Select) to limit the highest gear you desire to be in. It's the "+/-" button on the end of the shift lever.
Additionally....the Tow/Haul feature, along with the exhaust brake, work great together on hills to keep your speed in check, reducing your need to actually use the service brakes as much.

OK, I got one!
Got the Aisin, 4.10, loaded. Longhorn! long bed, dually (yuk, but what I needed)
First vehicle I ever had that has the bells and whistles.
Thanks for all the help. I feel really confident that this was the right choice.
