Fuel cap fix

Found a nice simple fix for the for the capless fuel fill. I went to the local plumbing shop. 1 1/2 " plastic pipe cap. fits like a glove.

Good deal!

This is another fine example of Rams Engineers trying to build a car instead of a truck. They have no clue that guys use these things as heavy work vehicles everyday and that open hole could capture half a pound of dust and silt everyday for the guys that work off the paved roads.

exactly I live in the country and I'm always in the bush or driving unpaved roads. But hey its the only thing so far I have to complain about on my new truck.

I'm over here with Numidian - after all the "dusted" motors they are sending out trucks without a fuel cap? That is downright evil.

Fernco Plumbing Part from Home Depot

a couple of days ago, i found a post using either Geno's or other fuel caps.
I cannot find the thread from the poster that had a picture posted of a "fernco"
1 1/2 pluming part from Home depot for $2.97.
Easy to trim and best suggestion instead of the $25.00 - $42.00 billet fuel cap.
The part from HD / plumbing section comes with a hose clamp, that I used as a guide to trim some of the rubber away so the fuel door for closes.
Instruction for trimming:
Loosen the hose clamp just enough to slide it towards top/cap end, tighten the clamp slightly, using the clamp as a template, use a single edge razor to trim
the excess off the bottom of the cap. maybe a 1/4". Take the clamp off and it fits perfectly over the filler opening and the door closes.
Now i need to find a decent looking locking fuel door.

Thanks to the original poster about using the Fernco plumbing part from HD.

1.5 inch pvc pipe plug made by Oatey. Got mine at Home Depot. Lowes has them also. Cherne also makes them. Wingnut compresses rubber gasket against sides of pipe or in this case the fuel filler. Cost $3 and some change.

I purchased one from Geno's garage, they have three to choose from, it has a tether and it fits over the fill neck instead of on/in it. When fueling I tuck it up behind the DEF cap to the left. I like it and it works for me. Carli suspension makes one with a **** and magnet on it, easy to grip if you have gloves on.

1 1/2 inch PVC cap fits after I sawed it in half to shorten it so the fuel door would close without hitting it.
I WANT A LOCKING CAP..............GRRRRRRRRRRR
