Didn't get out of the lot with my new 2017
Went to pick up a 2017 Laramie this morning and when we went to leave the dealer and the front sensors were in alarm mode. So I drove my truck around the building to service and that's where it is now.
Mechanic came out and we overheard him say half the modules were out or not reading on is diagnostic tool. They ended up putting it back in sleep mode ??? and restarting things, thought it was fine. He took it for a drive and returned and had another code. So I drove a loaner home.
I told them I may just scrap the deal as an electrical gremlin on the first day seems to be a bad omen to start with a truck I plan on keeping for 10-15 years.
Anyone else with electrical issues or deal breakers upon purchase?

These new trucks with all the computers they have onboard are very sensitive to battery voltage. Charging the batteries and clearing codes, updating modules are the main reasons for new trucks setting codes before delivery.

Someone at the dealership made the install of the block heater cord I requested sound like a major undertaking. Upon my return home I found a video on YouTube and see it is virtually the same as my 2005 install, remove the air tube and get it done.
When someone says they think I'm lucky my 2005 was stolen I want to throat punch them. This has been a major headache that won't end.

I'd walk the hell away from that truck in a quick hurry. To back up what NJTman said: Truck sits or runs very little for 4-5 months on the lot and the batteries die. Then the computers fuzz out.

Just a plain ole guy
I would never accept a brand new truck, especially for the price of these things, like that. There would have never been a lets take it to shop and see.

I had a truck once that was like the one you describe. It had problems on day 1. It was eventually bought back after 2 years of hell. This could just be a one time thing though. However, remember that once you have it in your name, they won't willing to take it back unless it qualifies under the lemon law.
