Check Engine Light

I have a 2014 Ram 3500 with Aisin tranny. I have periodically had my CEL come on and sometimes it goes off after a few days or like now stays on. I had someone use a code reader on it today and shut it off. The code read $7E8:engine. I tried to contact my dealer but no one answered the phone after numerous attempts.

I contacted Chrysler Customer Service and the lady tried to help but could not find this code.

Has anyone had this code and can tell me what it is?

Code usually will begin with letter P with four numerals afterward.
PCM may need update since code is not staying active. Flash: 6.7L Diagnostic And System Improvements ref: 18-045-15 REV. A

I thought this was what should have come up as well, but this one was strange. As my buddy was able to cancel the CEL I think I will leave it alone unless it comes on again. I am getting tired of all these lights coming on. I should have kept my 2010 3500.

I think you had a legitimate code. Had. it may still be there. Wont hurt to try. You just missed your fort part. A P0101 $07E8 is a real code. Maybe it will come back and you can get your full code soon. Better yet, maybe it will never come back.

I hope it's gone but I don't like my chances. I did not see the first part of A P0101, just the last one. If it does come back I will take it in. Thxs for your input.

You don't have to take it anywhere. Turn the key to the on position, then off, then on, then off, then on. Then the codes will show.

This is a 2014. It does not have a key.

Where will the code show up? I had my first CEL yesterday and after turning the key to the run position a few times the CEL went away and hasn't returned. I don't know if I have a code or not but truck runs fine.

My CEL came on again about 4 days ago, so made a dealer appointment and brought it in. It turned out I had a faulty oxygen sensor and they replaced it. When I was handed the paperwork they told me I owed 500 bucks. I almost had a heart attack until they realized they had switched paperwork with another customer. I'm glad I restrained myself before making a fool of myself.
