2016 Throttle response lags???
#16
I tried to ask the dealership to re flash the computer. They told me that my truck was up to date and there is nothing to re flash. Their suggestion was to leave the truck and the diesel tech could road test with his lap top plugged in.
I'm tempted to try Big Iron's fix first. The MAF sensor.

Mine has been falling on its face starting off and between 1st and 2nd gear. It also is bad after coming to a quick stop and they starting off. Feels like a second or two sometimes before it goes good. That's no good in traffic.
Gonna go back to the dealer and make them change the thing to see if it makes it better. Truck has 11770 miles on it.
That post on DEF on page one is not making me happy.

Extremely Frustrated!!!
I have been quite busy with work and personal things.
So the throttle response continues... Dealers are telling me there is nothing they can do if the truck is no producing code failures.
The response is really quite dangerous. Certainly, everything is magnified when towing. Hard to pass on the highway or pull into faster traffic.
Welcoming suggestions!

That's why I love my old 1995 with real throttle response, you step on the pedal and your mechanically linked to the injection pump= Instant response!
with Drive by wire systems, you step on the throttle then the computer looks at boost and emissions then decides how much of that throttle you really get, as boost builds then you get more and more throttle as emissions is kept low- this is the main reason manual transmissions are mostly gone as well. All emissions related and all diesel drive by wire systems i have driven are laggey, my 2013 vw passat is so delayed i have to do a brake stand in order to jump out in traffic as I can completely floor it and let off back to idle quickly without the engine responding at all, not even a hiccup!
The only way to fix this is to get a tuner, even the smartly DPF friendly 40hp tune really helps alot!

Seems strange.... My 2014 was completely different! Much more power and great throttle response.
I would be willing to put money on it. My 2016 on a dyno, No way this will pull the numbers Ram states. 800 Ft Lbs of torque... NO F-ing Way!

Big Iron was a great help!
I brought the truck in to Crown Valley Dodge in Ventura, CA. I must say, service and staff here were excellent! Much different than I am used to.
There just happen to be a recent TSB for my exact complaint. This was performed and the truck did perform different. The turbo seem to have a higher boost. Honestly, on the dash display, I did not track the before number. Coulda swore it never went over 20 PSI. Now I have seen as high as 29 PSI.
The MAF sensor was also changed.
Between the two there seems to be a noticeable difference. Still think its not the same as my 2014. The tech and service manager said after the TSB the truck will also relearn the driving style and perhaps this could improve from here.
Not done yet, but there is progress!

Dead pedal is much different, mine has dead pedal where you can floor the truck and it just idles for 10 seconds before slowly coming to life- Laggy throttle is 100% built in on purpose for both emission and torque management to keep the torque cummins from slipping the heck out of the transmission off idle.
