2012 now or wait for the 2013?

I have been dealing on a 2012 longhorn 3500. Dealer doesnt have any kind of info on the 13's but says they should be able to order in a few weeks. Good incentives now. Have no idea how much more the 13's will be. Asked him about some of the rumors on here and he says he hasnt heard a thing from Dodge. Never has he seen them be this hush hush about a new release.

Personally would go with the 2013. For one the 3500's comes with the beefy Aisin transmission when coupled to the new HO engine. The 2013 also uses DEF so that's less EGR and regens so hopefully it's a gain in reliability and fuel economy.

I think your dealer is tight lipped because they're trying to rid themselves of the '12s. It's not 2013!

You can order a 2013, now... No pricing yet, but ordering is possible. Production started this month... http://www.donlen.com/production-trucks-chrysler.aspx ..

Not sure what auto shows are in Jan, but I'm thinking pricing will be released with the next major show or before then end of Jan.

BTW, dealers never know what coming incentives are. If they did, the info would eventually leak.. As for pricing increase, the '13 1500 went up about 1%. I'm thinking it will be similar with the heavy duty trucks. They can't raise the price to much because sticker shock will push people to look at Ford and Duramax.

Me, I was originally looking at the '12, but after seeing the launch of the '13 Ram Heavy Duty video from the Texas State Fair, I'm holding tight for a '13.

If you haven't see the launch video take a look...

If you want to see what the new interior will look like, go look at the '13 1500, on dealer lots... The new interior is fantastic!

Really comes down to how much you wanna' pay? Great deals on 2012s now (Should get at least $11k below sticker) or pay closer to sticker and get the updated interior, SCR (Urea), Aisin tranny (3500), 850 ft/lbs, etc.

BTW, I wouldn't worry about being an early adopter on the 2013, as the new parts have already been in use for several years.

Crab Joe...Dealer didnt have any 12's on the lot(3500 long box longhorns anyway). Ended up finding one from another dealer. They cant access a build sheet on the 13's yet. Said they have a training tomorrow on them. Without the current incentives I would have walked out on the deal they were offering so I went with the 12. Hope it works out. IF not I will trade in a couple years.

Wait for a 13. The operating costs on the 12's are through the roof. I parked mine for the winter and bought a chev gas job to make it through the winter.

Congrats on your new truck!! Me, I'm holding tight for the '13.

FYI: If you plan on deleting, you'd better look for a delete capable tuner now and get it...

Thanks. Probably should have waited but like I said, without the current incentives I probably would have kept my 09. I cant see this truck being much different for operating expense except for the extra room in the back seat. Would love to delete but dealer wont work with me on that. told them I would cover the engine and drivetrain but dont think deleting should void the radio or door locks! They agree but are a small time dealer and cant push any weight around with dodge.

While I don't blame you (I'm not modded either), your dealer needs to be educated about Manguson-Moss. They can't void the warranty on your radio for adding a tuner. Powertrain, yes.

Chrysler does not approve every little warranty claim, just the major ones- and that's where the mods get scrutinized.

Discovered that about their warranty couple weeks ago. E brake occasionally wont disengage but doesnt throw a code. No code no warranty. ***!

So with all that is happening in the tuner market, which tuner is the one to buy? It use to be the smarty but now I am seeing a lot about the H&S. If I am reading right the the H&S are not available (at least not the one everyone was talking about before Christmas). The only smarty available is the Jr. right?

You can still find the H&S tuners with delete capability, but not directly from H&S. Call some of their resellers and you should be able to get your hands on one. Do it quick because they're going fast.....
