Overheating and no cab heat
ihave a 2008 5500 dodge ram 6.7 that has made me crasy. the temperture gage will go to overheating and then the heater will shut down and I have no heat. Been to dealer 5 times and they said air pockets. been to mech 5 times and he said air pockets. have change water pump, raditor cap, themostate, and bleed air lines serveral times. will run normal for awhile then overheats and no heat in cab. what can I try

I dont have a 6.7 but my 12 valve there is a plug on the head next to the T-STAT. It lets the air out.
With truck parked on ramps or whatever get the front end HIGH pull plug fill RAD till AF comes out hole re plug.
you may have to fill heater core by itself first.

Most likely your egr cooler is leaking. I have seen several doing this lately, it causes air pocket and engine overheat condition. Pull the egr cross over tube and take a look if egr and cooler are clean no soot. It will look like it was steam cleaned, then cooler is leaking. Put pressure tester on and you will see egr cooler to start filling with coolant. I just changed one on 5500 last week, owner said truck never ran so good. Tell dealer Reference Star case Number: S1118000061 has the info he needs to check.

We have raised the truck up and released air several times. still same problems. the egr has been disconnected and removed. still same problem. head gasket is next step i guess.

OK the egr has been removed but did you remove the EGR cooler also? If not then you could still be getting exhaust gases into the cooling system.

over heating
Did anyone ever figure out what was wrong with this truck? My truck is doing something similar, I was hoping to find someplace to start looking for problems...
