what shocks???
2007 5.9 2500. Uses are daily driving for my wife and towing a 7000 lb travel trailer. 165000 on the clock and a set of Monroe from 50000 on the front now

Bisltein 5100 all the way around will substantially improve handling with only a minimally stiffer ride for a decent price. Different part numbers are available for either stock height/leveled trucks or lifted trucks. Genos garage has good prices and excellent customer service, though you can get them other places as well. If you have a stock height truck, you can choose the yellow and blue Bilstein 4200 HD as they are valved sprecifisclly for our trucks. You and your wife will not be disappointed with either choice.

Not a lot of choices, really. You can get the standard Monroes and such from Rock Auto. Not a bad choice, relatively inexpensive, but don't expect them to last long. You get what you pay for.
Lots of choices for lifted trucks and heavy off road use. Not cheap.
The Bilstein's seem to be the best compromise. Good quality, significant improvement in ride quality. Will last a long time, too. Geno's has pretty good prices. You can do slightly better by watching for sales and deals.
I replaced my stockers with Bilsteins at about 30K miles. Noticeable improvement in ride quality and control. Stock shocks are OK, but Bilstein's are significantly better. At 130K miles, I decided to replace them again. The ride felt fine and they weren't leaking, but it seemed like a good idea. Again, a noticeable improvement in ride and control.

I don't know why everyone says bilstiens, I have them on the front with rancho 9000's on the rear. I have rancho's for the front just haven't put them on yet. The bilstiens seemed good for about a year but now they seem loose and the front of the truck floats too much for my liking.

There is no G. There is no G. Repeat after me, THERE IS NO G!
I blew out a kidney using Ranchos on my old truck lol
Next set I'm considering after I kill these 5100s is going to be the Thuren Overlands. I hear they're firmer than Monroe's but not as firm as the 5100s.

I have the Bilstien 5100s as well. Recommended by Thuren as part of my suspension upgrade.
I had a set of Rancho 5000s on a Toyota years ago. After less than a year the rubber bushings failed on the front shocks. I reused the old Toyota bushings and they were still working fine when I sold the truck a couple of years later.
I was not impressed with Rancho.
