Strong Diesel Smell In Cab

Has anyone else noticed a strong diesel smell in the cab when running the heater ??? Mine has been fine until I started using the heat this year since it is turning chilly.

Nope. But I have heard that Geno's sells Cab Filters which with the better ones (hepa) that it should stop that smell. I think they are under the wipers section but have not looked myself.

i sometimes notice a mild diesel odor, i can tell you the cab fresh filter kit does not reduce diesel, oil or exhaust odors, i sent mine back. good idea if it actually worked.

Any chance it could be coming from your fuel pressure gauge. Did you use an isolator.

I've got the smell of raw diesel fuel when I sit at a stoplight, or shut the truck down. There are no leaks that I can see. Might have to take it in.

It is coming from the vent hose that comes out of the crank case. This has been a problem ever since the 3rd Gen trucks came out. Mine still does it.

Some folks have extended the vent hose farther back which seemed to help.

I don't know about the diesel smell but I do get the crankcase oil smell when I stop or drive slow. Ok with me I like the smell, reminds me of my Int. 1086.

I had the saem thing on my 2004. For some reason I could smell diesel real bad in the cab well it turned out one of the regualtors or something under the hood had broken and leaking fuel everywhere. One day i decided to get under my truck and look and noticed fuel all over the drivetrain and left side of engine.

Probably normal.

Are you sure its diesel fuel, or the aromatic "rosmella" oil? Rotella is one of the smellier oils, and it seems to be strongest when the windows are closed and the heater on.

The stinky oil smell in the cab threads start in the late fall, early winter.

I just noticed some small drips on the ground yesterday morning while warm up. It was in 2 places, and after further examination sure enough it is diesel fuel.
I let everybody I talk to know what a piece of junk this truck is.

CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL!!! Mine started stinking really bad, and left a few drips on the ground one night and then the next day....Injector totally stuck open, oil/diesel mix ALL OVER THE PLACE! Covered everything under the truck because the engine was completely full of diesel...

I read something about the rear wall of the cab (wall next to the truck bed) having some vent holes that lets the smell in. Guys were plugging the holes and that seemed to take care of the smell.
