Jumper wire to keep Driving lights on with High beams??

Hello everyone, I saw on her a while ago that someone took a wire, and jumped 2 terminals in the fuse block under the hood, to keep the driving lights on with the highbeams. NO, I dont want to buy a bright box, that defeats the whole purpose of writing this post . I dont want to pay over a hundred box for something that can be done for about 25 cents worth of wire. I know it can be done, Ive seen it, just cant remeber where, and what terminals to jump. Im actually on my laptop right now, Upstate NY on a hunting trip, and on the way up here, I noticed the highbeams are SOOO much more effective when you hold the lever back, and it keeps the driving lights on with the Highs, but when you let go, back to the lousy highbeams!!

I know people will say, Its not the right way, or blah, blah, blah, lol, but for the amount Im on roads that need the extra light, its not worth for me to spend a hundred bucks or more, I figured some good wire, maybe run a fusible link between the 2 terminals, its should be good enough for the 4-5 days i will need them.

Any pics, diagrams, of terminal numbers will be very helpfull!!

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks, that was the pic I was looking for. Are those relays already in the block, or do I have to buy them?

That is called the Fog_Mod by Bubba. Is it for the fog lights or the main headlights?

If you're using the Dodge driving lights you only have to tap into the parking lights instead of the low beams for the input signal. You can do that behind the left head light.

Just so you arent dissapointed in this mod, you have said that you notice how much brighter the high beams are when you pull the lever back. If my assumption is correct, this is just before the high beams activate. When you do this 'flash to pass' it is actually activating your low beams, your high beams, AND your fog lights, not just high beams and fog lights. This is why it seems to be so much brighter.

Yes. If your truck did not come with factory installed driving lights and you go to your dealer and buy the kit instead of using the low beam for the input signal tap into the parking light.

I am not sure about on the 05's but i know the 06's you are able to get this feature turned on by the dealer. there is a code writin into the ecm which actually allows us to do what you are talking about. the bully dog tripple dog also is able to turn this on.
Not exactly what you asked, but may be worth looking into.

I really appreciate all the replies, Im prob gonna try the wire like in the first pic. I plan on going back Upstate NY next week, and I would like to have just a little more help with the highs. Like I said, Im lucky Im gonna need this extra help alot because Im on roads like this for maybe 7 days a year, lol. Thats why I like the quick wire jumper. I might just use a fusible link in between for a lil extra safety.

Like I said before, I like how the lights are when your switching back from your HIGHS to lows, If you hold the lever in, and dont let go, the lights stay at there brightest, but when you let go, your back to your low beams.

Hey, if 6 inches of wire, can give me a few hours of extra brightness on the road, works for me!!

I beleave the jumper wire is for fog lights on bright only.

I beleave what your trying to say is you want bright lights, dim lights, and fog light on when in bright light mode.

There is a mod for this, it involves fileing a detent in the dimmer switch. I don't know the exact procedure but you could do a search and maybe find it. Yah, I know, the search function is almost useless unless your willing to spend hours looking and reading.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I did this mod and swapped driving high beam for the factory fog light bulbs. It seems to work great. The only problem with doing the jumper wire is that your fog lights come on when ever you turn on the running lights. But im sure that a diode could be used to stop current flow. Just havent gotten there yet.
