5.9 Engine Rebuild Suggestions

As far as the aftermarket external dampener that was mentioned before (sometimes referred to as a harmonic balancer), I purchased a 6.7 dampener, new fan pulley and fan bolts. The new dampeners are fluid based, which is what the high dollar fluid dampeners are.
As far as turbos, I kick myself a lot for going with a big single turbo and big sticks... it's a beast at more than half throttle, but daily driving I have to drive around the throttle. I would suggest some 90 HP sticks and a S400/stock turbo combo for twins. I've seen some big numbers made with this combo, but very streetable. Biggest thing you need to do... decide what you want, then look at truck setups and ask questions.
Good luck on that rebuild. As far as injectors, I recommend Don M at F1 diesel... I've been running his sticks for years. Great folks.

Thanks. Yes, I have seen that twins are the ticket, however I cannot do that at this point in time (resource constrained).
What size did you go with that makes it too much for DD?
I chatted with my builder last night and he said we can do a happy medium of 65hp nozzles on my injectors if I wanted.
I want a 0-75% throttle truck, not a WOT Dyno King. As you all know, deciding is very difficult, especially going off of all word of mouth data and reading signatures of posters on DTR. I have spent countless hours up reading and searching and Im still up in the air.
COAs:
1) 65HP with 62/65/14
2) 65HP with 63/68/14
3) 85HP with 62/65/14
4) 85HP with 63/68/14
5) 50HP with 62/65/12
6) 50HP with 62/68/12
7) Give up and go stock!!!
Are any of these combo superior or dominate the others?

AHHH, THE GREAT TURBO/INJECTOR DEBATE.....
You are doing the right thing...... research and questions till we are sick and tired of you...
Have you looked into the Garret PowerMax ball bearing turbos, i have heard great things about them....

I got a really good deal on the injectors and tried to pair a single up with it because of money also... Shortly after the kids started killing my truck fund...
Also consider getting an upgraded manifold... SS or ceramic coated are some good ones, two or three piece.

I wound up getting my HE351CW turbo custom built after weeks of research. Now my truck is still numbers matching, rebuilt Injectors and Turbo. The proof will be in a couple weeks when it all comes together... Crossed fingers for a clean, strong running truck.

Tater. Went with 62/65 for now. Wanted great stop and go manners and towing capabilities... later I will have him build me a s475 for a compound setup and bigger sticks/dual cp3 when my truck is no longer a work truck but instead a toy.

I love my Tater, Have it for about 6000miles now. It spools well and sounds so nice!
I wasnt sure if it was the fault of my light throttle haze i was having or not but i have gotten rid of almost all of it by having my Smart UDC-Pro tuning adjusted.
My only complaint is that i have what sounds like air turbulence at 30%+ throttle position, but maybe this is not turbo related... I blame it on not having a silencer ring/race cover.

Tim Barber at TRE Diesel Performance and his crew did an outstanding job with the engine work and install. Im in the 500 mile break-in period, but so far it is clean and quiet running engine with plenty of power. Pictures and insight into the performance to follow.
