Further information that may or may not relate to this issue:
Wednesday Feb2nd:
***28degrees out, battery dead, jumped off big red with the wife's swagger waggon!
***Had Orielly Auto check batts and they said it was alternator
***Went to alternator guy and he says too soon for alt to go bad at only 63k miles.
Thursday Feb3rd:
***30deg out. Didn't want to start but she did!
THIS MORNING:
***24deg out. Didn't want to start even more than yesterday but she did!
***Let her idle for about 35-40 minutes to warm up and clear all the ice off the windshields.
***Drove 10 minutes to job site
***Let idle for 15 minutes while waiting on customer
***While idling, the truck idled UP with more RPM for a couple minutes
***Client came, got out and realized i forgot my gloves so my hands were cold.
***Got back into truck and engine light was on.
***Drove 10 minutes to office and plugged in Smarty and pulled the code.
That's in in a nutshell. And i have my gloves now!

that code tells the ECM there are more codes in the TCM. you will need a starscan to get into the TCM and see what is going on inside there. the smarty does not have the capabilites to get into the TCM (hint hint bob and marco ).
P0700-TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM (MIL REQUEST)
For a complete wiring diagram Refer to the Wiring Information.
When Monitored:
Ignition on and battery voltage greater than 10 volts.
Set Condition:
An active DTC is stored in the TCM. One Trip Fault. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.
Possible Causes
DTC PRESENT IN THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Engine Control (ECM) - Standard Procedure).
DTC PRESENT IN EATX CONTROLLER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. This is an informational DTC letting you know that a DTC(s) is stored in the Transmission Control Module.
2. Erase this DTC from the ECM after all Transmission DTC(s) have been repaired.
3. Using a scan tool, read the Transmission Controller DTC and refer to the Transmission Category and perform the appropriate symptom.
PCM Diagnostic Information complete.
Continue
Test Complete.

x3 here. I believe there is another transmission related code that is existing, causing the P0700 to show up. I just replaced two shift solenoids in the transmision of my wife's vehicle. The code in hers, which was behind the P0700 code appearing, was P0756 (Shift solenoid B performance).
Like others have said, a more in-depth scan should tell you where you need to look further.
