Getting ready to buy new truck

Hi Everyone. I am going to be buying a new 3/4 ton 4x4 in the next month and have a couple of questions.

I want a 2500 crew cab 4x4 auto. This truck will be used to tow my travel trailer plus be used as my daily driver. I do not see towing over 10,000 lbs. I have been reading the posts on hear for a little while now and have heard of all of the problems.

I am looking for some opinions of what if any problems I should look out fo? I have been a Dodge lover for a long time. Is there any reason I should back off?

Thanks for the help.

I know what you mean. Kind of scary ain't it I have been checking these Diesel forums for quite awhile. Jan. 15th, I went ahead and bought one It appears to me that the problems have mostly been with the 7.5's. I ran the Vin on my truck and nothing came up. Keeping my fingers crossed but having only 50miles on it so far, I dig it

had mine 2 or 3 months now and have 4000 miles (off season for work). not one single problem. i run it with the exhaust brake on and drive it hard. never had any codes or lights come on. had the G30 and reflash done right after i bought it. i know 4k is low miles, but i love it so far.

Yeah go with the 08 if you can. Or if you can hold off get a '10 because all the emmission rules and regs are going to change big time then. Lot of commercial trucking companies and other fleets are trying to hold off till '10 because of the changes that the government is going to do to the emissions. Some crazy talk that they will want to retro fit anything older than a 10 so it meets the new laws at that time. Then again all of that is subject to change over night!

The best thing to do if you can stand it is get a pre-emissions truck and be good to go for a while!

Good luck with your shopping!!

The 6.7 in the Ram pickups is already 2010 emissions compliant. It will not need updating.

one thing to note if it passes the test at the time of manufacter it is good to go. no need to retro fit anything to it.

Puchased mine in nov

This is only my 4th ctd. have had the cel problem 2 times since purchase. Love the new 6 speed auto. It was also nice to have the cbrake already on it, have installed on my last 3. I'm happy with my purchase and I'm sure dodge will iron out the problems. Would enjoy better milage but that will come in time. I'm up to 18.4 hand calculated. started down around 12. I only have 7000 on mine now but spring is around the corner. My last truck waited till around 60,000 for milage improvement and i did pull 18k 5ver over 25k of those miles.

Here is one more thing to think about.

The Fed is meeting at the end of January '08 and probably will cut the Fed Funds rate another 1/2 point. This will affect short term rates like auto loans and CD's. If your financing you might see Chrysler Credit drop their 4 & 5 year loan rates after Feb 1st.

Just a thought.
