Ai,000san Transmission Warranty

I bought a new 2008 cab and chassis with the "great" Aisan transmission; warrantied for 180,000 miles. Mine has 46K on it and fell apart.. ...Dodge says:" too bad" the clutch pack in it is only warranted for 12,000 miles......no wonder they can post great profits for the quarter. This just doesn't sound like Dodge. This truck has not been used for anything tough. Just hauling hay on the flatbed. They won't even talk to me...no supervisor for me.....the decision has been made.....I've had 21 Dodge trucks......I'm buying Ford from now on.

That,s why I,ll not buy a new Dodge. The trucks are ok but the dealers suck. Every problem I,ve had could have been fixed under warranty but they looked for any reason to deny it. I don,t blame you at all.

Angry warranty

I thought someone on here might have an idea as to what I might do for recourse to get this rectified with Dodge................

Do you have a work order from that dealer? There should be a toll free number in your owners manual to call.
You may also want to go to a different dealer.
My experience with some dealers is/are very informative and customer friendly whereas others are less then helpful. Like the time I was told my transfer case was ruined. There was nothing wrong with it. It was a separated tire causing my symptom which I determined on my own. My wife's Jeep had a bad transmission from new and I was told all sorts of stories why it was doing what it was doing. Went to a different dealer and had a new trans in 3 days.

Going to another Dodge dealer may earn your business and respect back.

I would definably go to a different dealer. Has anyone shown you where it says the clutch pack is only warrantied for 12k. Personally, I don't believe it. I would sure go up the line on this one. Really, I don't believe you need to change brands, I believe you need to change dealers.

6.7 Transmission

I called the toll free number for Dodge......got some lady checking boxes on a standard form.....she said they would review....called and said"no warranty due to the fact the clutch pack is only warranted for 12K....we all know that's not true......called back and was told don't call again....decision has been made and you can't talk to a supervisor......I think she checked the manual transmission box as the manual clutch pack is only warranted for 12K....she's in Canada and I'm in Missouri and she doesn't care......typical as she's not the owner just the messenger!....What now? 6000+ for a new one............and she also said $6400 under warranty...$8400 if I have to pay out of pocket ......any ideas?

Well I am really sorry for your experence, ALL my issues have been handled with perfection from my dealer even with a deleted truck. I would try a different dealer at first chance. I dont think going to Ford would be any different though, my brother was in a court battle for almost two years over his 6.0L.

I know one thing, the prices you were quoted are wrong. A new Aisin will cost you around $5500, $4500 after the $1000 core deposit, and that is what you will pay with no warranty. I was fussing at my dealer a while back about the cost of the filter, gasket and oil and he told me the cost of the transmission. I will say again, find a different dealer and I believe you will have a different outcome.

I assume this is a MANUAL tranny?
if a manual the clutch is considered a wear item and not covered by tranny warranty...Your recourse is prove the clutch is defective not just worn out from use/missuse. Now if it is a auto-someone with dealer needs a rear end adjustment. Another dealer will not help since issue is on record with Chrysler.

He says in the original post the "great Aisin transmission". If it is a Aisin transmission it should be warrantied for 180k miles. That is why I said to take it to another dealer. It should be under warranty. Someone is getting screwed and needs to talk to someone else. I believe the person he talked to is under the impression it is a 6-speed stick. It should be under warranty.

That's been my opinion from the start! It's an Aisan automatic and is warranted for 180K, unless Dodge decides at any time they don't have to warranty it........this truck has mild use, almost no towing and no hotrodding.........Dodge will hurt from this as I'm making sure everyone knows how the dealer and Dodge handled this..Some of the guys here are already trading for Fords.

When you go to someone else give them the VIN #. That will tell them everything they need to know about the truck. All the equipment ect. I would go in to another dealer, tell them you are having a problem with the transmission and give them the VIN #, nothing else, and let them take it from there. The cab and chassis I have has almost 400,000 miles of towing a 40 ft gooseneck in the oilfields. The trailer weighs almost 10k, not counting what the load weighs. I've never to this point had any problems with the transmission. I'll say it again, find a different dealer, give them the VIN and see what happens.

The experience is bad for sure. Do not be lulled into thinking Ford is any different though.

My friend's 6.0 Ford just lost both heads due to cracking. It is bone stock with only 42k miles. $4k later Ford tells him the same thing you got from Dodge.

I've read a few tyranny post on a Ford site fyi Ford is also having problems with trans behind the 6.7L so its not only Dodge who has trans problems.
