Water pump on my 03 5.9 began leaking around 100K ... not long after the cooling system had been flushed and the coolant replaced with "Peak (HOAT) Global Lifetime"

Yup... seems to be a pattern for sure... rather annoying to say the least!

271k and mine just failed... But had a customer's truck here, 03 with 67k on it for a water pump last week. I always have one on the shelf just in case, good thing I did because I needed it for me haha!

2012 Dodge Ram Cummings

I purchased 3 trucks in 2012. A 3500 duelly. A 3500 crew cab. A 2500 crew cab. All 3 water pumps went out at 60 k. And I'm talking about within 2000 miles of each other.
We are very strict on our maintenance too. I replaced my only duramax trucks water pump once and it's got 500k on it.
I'm looking to buy 2 more trucks this summer and this isn't sitting well with me.

Dodge just needs to dissect the Dura's pump and replicate it. Spec out the pump better.
The shop I use sees failure of the seal to be the most prominent issue.
On the other hand, they had a Dura @ 78K needing new injectors. That's booked out @ 15hr shop time. This was a 2005.
Water pumps do go out on them but way less frequently. Book time is 4-5 hrs as I recall.

150k on my 03 now and currently on my 3rd WP! Went with an aftermarket WP (w/lifetime warranty of course) after the OEM seal failed. If anyone's wondering...yes...I used HOAT compliant/Peak Global Life AF on the refills every time. Fortunately swapping pumps on this particular year is easy enough and with so many failures, I can pretty much swap a pump in my sleep

Thumbs down

Replaced my water pump again today. 25,000 miles on rebuild and this will be the 2nd Cummins brand pump in 15,000 miles. This is absolutely ridiculous.
