Obd 2 monitors ?

I have seen some pretty neat OBD 2 monitors that can send "dashboard data" to your phone or iPad device.

Has anyone used one on a Cummins diesel powered truck?

From what I understand not all statistics are available for diesel engines.

Has anyone tried one of these monitors and is it worth the cost?

This is true. Each manufacturer decides what information the ECU will monitor. And that's the info you can read from a OBDII reader. For example, the Dodge does not monitor oil temp. If you really want to know what that is, you'll need to add a separate gauge set up for that.

Are they worth it? I think so. You can monitor most of the important functions directly from the OBDII. It's relatively inexpensive, and easy to install.

You also cannot monitor EGT's, since the ECU does not monitor that. But most of them have the ability to add a pyrometer.

What about trans temp? How do you monitor that? Can't find it broadcast on the OBD2.
