Wiring trouble on 01 2500

I have a 2001 2500 Laredo that I'm having trouble with the trailer plug.
I can not get power to the running lights (black/orange)wire coming into the plug. I've traced the wire back to the main harness, by the axle, and it seems to be dead.
Can anyone tell me where the beginning of this black/orange wire is, so that I can make sure it has power at the head?
I don't know where to find a usable schematic, if one is available.
Thanks
Have fun

That wire gets it's voltage through the trailer tow relay which is energized by the headlight switch. The #8 40 amp fuse is the voltage voltage source that flows through the relay after the headlight switch energizes the coil side of the relay. The fuse and relay are both in the under hood box.

Good luck

thanks for the reply. I started chasing the wire looking for a spark since it is the only one not working on the trailer plug. After a while, I pulled a DPO move and pulled power for running lights off of a tail light circuit. I fused it and it will work for the job I have this week, then I'll go back and find why it isn't getting any juice.
Anyone know of a schematic I can download on line?
Thanks again
Have fun

You might have better luck if you posted in the 2nd gen forum. This is the '89-'93 1st gen forum.
