2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab Long Bed 4WD - 24 Valve
I just joined this forum.
I am looking at a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Quad Cab Long Bed 4WD - 24 Valve - it has 270,000 miles on it. Has been serviced regularly and appears to operate as it is supposed to - It has small dings here and there. not a show truck just a work type truck.
I just found out it has 3.55 gears and an Open rear differential.
Does NOT have manual locking front hubs.
I believe it is an SL model as it has Manual windows, locks and mirrors & Vinyl Floor.
***What would be a Fair Value on this truck in this condition?
I looked it up on NADA and got a number of just under $12,000.00 But, that is in Clean retail Condition. The one ugly spot is the dash is severely broken and has black duct tape holding it together.
Thank You

The price of that truck could vary a LOT.
If it is an auto or a manual will effect the price.
The cracked dash is not a big deal as that is pretty common on southern trucks from sunny and warm locations.
$12,000 sounds about right in the ball park if it is pretty decent and looks like it was well taken care of.
These trucks have gotten very popular and they are selling for pretty decent $$.

To my mind, the broken dash (while common on our trucks) would disqualify the truck from the "clean retail" description on NADA. Also, NADA is for dealers and doesn't really recognize private-party sales. Is this a private-party sale or from a dealer? Try Kelley Blue Book - kbb.com. KBB will ask you about sale type (dealer, private party, etc), options, color, etc - I went with the options (or lack of) that you specifically mentioned, but there are other options you didn't mention. KBB also generates different price ranges based on different condition levels (fair, good, excellent) I got a KBB range (based on my zipcode) that was considerably lower than the NADA value you mentioned.

The truck is at a department of transportation yard. I finally got in to take a look at it. The engine would not turn over, the man at the shop said that it Does Run and Drive but he didnt have time to jump start it for me.
The interior has some mold all through the floor boards so I assume it has been sitting for more than a year.
Since I could Not hear it run I decided not to buy it.
Thank You for all your advices of this truck!!!

Well... I was at the yard about a week later and the new owner had the truck there and was waiting for the manager to walk the title out to him.
It sat there running for about a half hour... it ran Great the whole time and loud just like I was expecting. I was disappointed I didnt get to hear it run before it was purchased but glad to hear it running well.
