recall ?
I've had the clockspring replaced under recall 3 times already sinece 2004. (Recall #982 I think). All went well for about 3 yrs. It just crapped out again. Is the recall still active? Thanks 2001- 2500 Sport 4wd.

FYI: Did in fact go too a dealer today. Service mgr. tried to "wriggle out" saying the recall "expired". Talked to a salesman on the way out. He said if it was a Federally mandated safety recall its "forever". Back to the Service mgr. said he overlooked something. Long story short; new clockspring next Tues. under recall.

Please post the recall # if you have it.
I paid for my Clock Spring repair ........ horn/cruise was affected.
Would like to get that money back.

Thanks

Might be a stupid question but What exactly is the clock spring and how does it effect the radio , cruise and horn ? I am asking because my radio volume dial does not work up or down and my cruise didn`t seem to want to disengage the other day . Is this what y`all are talking about ?If so , does anyone know the recall number ?

The clock spring is a ribbon wire coil in the steering column that tightens or relaxes depending on what direction you turn the wheel, hence clock spring. These wires go to the cruise control and radio control buttons on the steering wheel, and the air bag. Also maybe the horn.

I just called the dealer (two actually), and they said it was not for my 2001 2500 24 valve. Sucks because I have all the symptoms of it being a clockspring.
Are they hard to replace?

Are they hard to replace?[quote. The campaigns may only be good for so many years. The time frame might be up. IDK. Not bad to change if u have the proper tools. And a service manual. I just read another thread and the answer is that the campaigns are forever. So if it applies to your truck the dealer should honour it. Kim
