What would be an average price to paint a pickup bed? Just paint, minor body work I can do. Nothing fancy, all white. The inside I'll wino rine or something.

Bedsides and front, standard gun, quart and a half or so, HVLP about half that. I assume your truck, right? White usually covers fairly well, I would for sure use a lighter primer under it.
Clear coat I would say minimum of 2 quarts of material.

Yes, I'm going to replace the utility bed with a standard bed. If I can find one in good enough shape. The one I was thinking about had more damage than I can fix.

Nah, either too far away (400 miles) or I slept through it. No reports of any significant damage.

well here is a Idea to look into maybe. I have had projects over the years that I consulted with local trade schools or community colleges , even some tech high schools.
they have alot of green, young talented folks that are needing projects towards hours or certification etc.
I have only had to come up with supply and the vehicle. If your not in a huge time line. you may be able to drop off a bed you find and they do it all in stages. You will not be charged a bill per say.

I wish we had something like that up here, but we don't. Body shops up here, even the guys working out of their garages charge a premium for their time. Paint and such is half again higher due to hazmat shipping.

I was hoping for something a bit closer. Shipping or fetching wound not be cost effective. I could buy a used gasser for that price, which has crossed my mind for an alternative.

I just got a quote to paint a tailgate on one of our F-150's....$650.00!! It was cheaper to find a black one and get it from Spokane for $300.
More cleanup than paint etc, I get it. A bed should be a better deal I would think...to bad you aren't closer, I'd like service bed for my work truck.

Ouch, just to paint a tail gate? Something small like a tail gate I'd take on my self. A whole bed is hard to hide from prying eyes, if you know what I mean. After my dad passed, I don't have an excuse to "visit" Montana anymore. The only reason for a road trip is if the company required something moved between AK and OR that they can't move otherwise.

if you plan on spaying the bed with bedliner. than save the money.
you do not need get all the prep and good paint in the bed to later scuff and apply bedliner to it. just have them prime the inside of the bed.
below is a thread from the past. I have pics of my truck with bedliner. I'm slowly doing the entire truck. To each their own. but this is a huge money saver and can be done by yourself.
so just a idea.
