colder ac?
Does anyone happen to remember a thread from a few years ago regarding a way to get your ac to pull air from inside the cab instead of outside to help the ac. Low cooler air?i tried searching and cant find it.i do believe it has something to do with the blend door and a pencil to prop something closed behind the glove box

I took mine to a certified A/C guy to get it straightened out, it had a leak.
It has been good since, after $250. I know the system needs to be very clean internally and at the correct pressures when on/off/cycling. Sometimes these are hard to hit with a can of R34a and no gauges....

One thing you can do that will make for colder A/C is to put ball valves in the heater lines under the hood. Shut the flow of water off to the heater, and the A/C is about 15deg colder. This drop has been verified by several people. I put valves in my 2002. I haven't checked with a thermometer, but the A/C is much colder.

Hooking up some gauges to the AC system should help understand the compressors condition and the level of Freon.
But two commonly overlooked things which can cause the AC system to run warmer than it should are.....if the condenser and/or the radiator/intercooler is full of bugs or bent fins, or if the fan clutch is weak. One indication if its the fan clutch is the AC gets considerably cooler when you're cruising down the highway but warmer at idle.

Thanks katoom....i know recently now that i charged it when i first turn on the air i get this funny sound like something got caught in the fan under the hood. Possibly the belt slipping on the pully? I do know the compressor clutch was squeeky for awhile and squeaked louder when i turned on the air.over the past 2 days it has not been as loud but i still get the fluttering thump for about 3 seconds . Just trying to get an idea of what im getting into because i do all my own work..

Its a coincidence you describe it like that because I too was experiencing the same thing. You may want to read these threads I started in order to find what was going on. Not a lot of info in a couple threads until you get deep into the discussion, but there is a couple cool links which are pretty helpful in understanding whats going on in the AC system.
