steering issues

I have an 01 2500 4wd that has wants to make a grinding noise only when turning right. Power steering fluid is fresh,New rebuilt ps pump and hydroboost installed 2 months ago. I have had this issue for several years. Even after 3 sets of tires and front end alignments,New wheel bearing hubs,new axle ujoints,track bar and drag link. Still??? Does anyone think maybe a dss will help-maybe there is just enough flex to cause a bind somewhere in the steering linkage? It seems to only make the sound at lower speeds when trying to turn the wheel quickly. Any thoughts? Thanks

I just put a dss brace in yesterday and I immediately noticed a difference when turning the steering wheel just backing out of the driveway. seems to respond a little quicker when turning the wheel going down the highway. In my opinion the dss brace is worth the money whether it fixes your problem or not...as far as helping it fix the grinding noise ...i'm not sure if it would help. can you pinpoint exactly where the grinding noise is coming from? maybe with some help from a friend observing from outside the vehicle? maybe check where the gearbox bolts up to the frame. If you do put the dss brace in.. check out your sway bar end links too if they haven't already been replaced. When mine broke apart it made some noises when turning. good luck

@who's ram
I just read the other day about someone who has a 2" leveling kit and he thinks that even adding that to his truck messed with his front end without having an adjustable track bar. i'm not sure if that info is accurate but adding lift to the truck does seem to pull the axle over just a bit. but then again theres probably thousands of these trucks that have leveling kits without problems.

My buddy's 01 did this, you could feel it in the steering wheel.. replaced the power steering box and it went away.

Here is where I got mine but I am sure you can find a supplier south of the border that won't require you to bring it across the border from Canada.

When I ordered my DSS I also got upgraded urethane bushing for my tackbar on the same order.

When I first got my truck 3 yrs ago, I could barely keep it in the lanes on the highway. I thought my steering box was shot until I started reading on this board. I replaced my stock trackbar with an adjustable one, upgraded the bushings to urethane and installed a DSS. The steering isn't perfect yet but it is about 80% of the way there.

Well,last night I changed my ps fluid over to a full synthetic. I as amazing to see how dirty the fluid was coming out considering it was fresh about 2 month before-very burnt smell. I figure even if this doesn't fix the problem,I'm still better off. I think the next move will be to install a dss. I found one at dodgeramsteeringstabilizer.com for $120. It is bent out of 1 piece with no welds-looks to be just as strong as others .Hopefully I won't have to replace the steering box-little pricey. Thanks for all the replies so far. I will keep you posted on progress
