Reliable service from my Cummins, I must be doing something right.
This Cummins has 300k kms/190k mi. It doesn't sound like a lot but it is in a class 7 truck used for pickup and delivery in a big city with a lifetime average vehicle speed of 17mi/hr and lots of idling. Engine hours, as recorded by the Cummins ECM, is at 11000 hrs.
I use Walmart TCW3 2-stroke oil as fuel additive most of the year and Howes over the winter. The current VP44 is seven years old and I still have the original injectors. My LP problems ceased when I installed the Walbro many years ago.
Other than the engine speed sensor needing to be replaced every eighteen months, the engine is trouble free. It doesn't burn oil. It is tough to keep the engine completely oil-tight, there are a couple of minor oil leaks. Fuel economy is very good.
All in all, I am a very satisfied Cummins engine owner.
