Plastic spacer infront of starter????
Last night I was able to sit down and diagnose why my truck wouldn't start, I came to the conclusion that the starter was bad, luckily I had an extra one laying around so when I went to remove the bad one the plastic piece between the starter and the housing fell out in about 4 pieces!!! and the old starter was already loose! What a pitiful design by dodge. Luckily, I had installed a SB clutch a few months back and had the billet aluminum one that came with the clutch that I was "suppose" to send back to them if not needed, but I never did and extremely glad I didn't. Just curious if anyone else has had this issue and also curious how you are suppose to be able to torque the bolts and expect them to stay tight with a piece of plastic in there?? I would suggest if anyone replaces their starter to go ahead and get the billet spacer as a safety measure. In my case I believe the plastic cracked, which made the starter loose, and that somehow put the starter at a weird angle and seized it up. I plan to rebuild the starter from the rebuild kit on Genos website for 24 dollars, but just curious if anyone else has had this issue.

I recall a spacer being used on the HO trucks because of a larger output shaft or something to the tune of that...
I think mine is metal...
