Need opinions for 1998.5
I have a stock 1998.5 Cummins 24 valve dually. I'm looking to find out what is the better
lift pump, air intake, exhaust & programmer. I'm not looking to build a whole bunch of power, just enough to give it a little more pep. My old truck is sluggish. I been owning the truck for 12 years, it only has 260,000 miles. It is an automatic. I consider it a daily driver although I'm only in 7 days a month. Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Without a tranny upgrade,I'd limit the power upgrade to an Edge EZ. 65 rwhp and take it easy on the pedal. The stock filter works well. I did a turboback 4" exhaust on mine and just gained increased noise and slightly lower egt's. An EGT gauge will be necessary.

Agreed, start saving for a decent trans.
A good Converter and Valve body along with a decent rebuild and a billet band strut will amaze you at how it drives...... They made them quite slushy to save the truck.

I'm going to buy the FASS adjustable 95 gph fuel pump. I plan on putting 4" exhaust just not definite on which brand.
Tranny upgrade? What should I be looking into? Getting it rebuilt or try to find a better one? I know you can do a lot to a tranny but what upgrades need to be done? I know it's a shot in the dark but how much would a tranny upgrade cost?

Your tranny upgrade will cost you as deep as your pockets can go. Patdaly hit the highlights above in post #3. Up here in the land of the "screw me i'm from Canada" a decent rebuild on a 47RE ran me $4,000.00 with the primary objective of building it robust enough to pull my 12,000 lb RV. The trans is rock solid, pulls like crazy, chirps tires between the gears on hard launches and feels very stout when working hard or just cruising along. For an extra $2,000.00 or so I could have built it to the extreme however I just couldn't pull the trigger for that kind of money.
Cheers!

For the Trans, 95 percent of the bang can be gained by just a good Single or Triple disc Converter, a Valve Body, and a Servo Apply lever, which should be done in conjunction with a billet band strut.
Figure 1300 for a good converter, another 800 or so for a VB, and 100 bucks for the rest.
If your Trans is currently SOLID, then a rebuild isn't really needed.
This is all with name brand stuff, like Goerend, who I prefer.
If you want to do it on a budget, and have the tolerance for mistakes, you can get a lesser known brand name Converter for half price and modify your own VB with a shift kit and put in the apply lever and band strut.
I'm not a big fan of playing around as these things make so much power, I just don't see the risk as worth the reward.
