How does the fuel filter look. last changed? hows the weather where you are at. has it been cold the last week? and also how are the batteries? the compression on these trucks are so high that weak batteries trying to turn it over can cause hard start. Also you didn't answer is this on a dead cold engine when the hard start happens. This would tie in more also with air getting in the system sitting over night.

how about removing the fuel "in" line at the VP and bumping the starter to get your 25 sec prime cycle and measure the fuel volume. fuel should be bubble free and over 45 oz in that run time with the in tank pump...... fwiw I'm also a fan of the in tank set up.
