There actually is a Class Action Suit I will see if I can find the card that was mailed to me when I get home. I think it was $500.00 They gave to you. I now have to change my signature,,I am in the 300000 mile club now and on my 3rd set of balljoints,2nd walbro pump,5th gear repaired twice I have the permanent repair for trans now.
Got $500.00 for my old cracked engine and $500.00 back from cummins,
My 53 cracked 171000 miles

2001 165K no cracks if she cracks oh well at least it did not cost 60000 like the new ones guess I will fix it.

Have a 2001 with 260,000 and no cracks,53 stamped on both sides and i haul an RV in mountainous terrain.Perhaps the answer to the crack is a flexible repair.I used to use this product,a caulking used as an expansion joint on high rises ,bridge decks.This stuff is tuff and sticks to anything.It,s a polyurathane,dries like rubber,i know it as vulcan 45 but i,m sure it has other brand names..I would clean area with a grinder and paste it on there a half inch thick and two inch overlap the entire length of the block.There you have it a 10 dollar fix.

Currently at 205,000 miles, noticed damp spot on the block at 130,000 miles, did first lock n stitch repair at 160,000 miles approx. 3 inches long, and installed block brace, did second 3 inch repair at 180,000 miles, replaced 53 block with a HO245 block at 193,000 miles.

99` 2500 Cracked towing 3500lb trailer, 3500lb camper @ 2000ft elv
Aprox mileage 115000, edge tow box , dd2 injectors
Took off all add ons , Cummins fixed it parts only cost me $4000.00

I wonder how many "not cracked" are cracked now, mine did 1 year ago, 138,000 miles. Poll started more than 6.5 years ago...
