ECM advice

Has anyone out there had any good results with a remanufactured ECM and/or a service that repairs/rebuilds them? I have an '02 Ram 2500 Sport with a fried ECM. Brand new seems very expensive and buying one from a salvage yard seems a little risky.
Thanks in advance!

You should probably post this in the 2nd Gen section....1st Gen's are 89-93.

Good luck.

I have read a few threads regarding remanufactured or rebuilt ECM's, but that said its been hit and miss as to whether or not the results are good. The places who rebuild them are far and few too so I cant even remember where they got them done.

Your best bet would be to just Google the questions and see what you find out. You may just run across some threads regarding this topic.

Thanks, I read through quite a few of the posts related to ECM issues and I really couldn't find anything definitive or specific with regards to remanufactured or rebuilding services. Seems like they're running around $600.00 for salvage ones; lot's of unknowns and no warranty. NAPA has rebuilt (by Cardone) ECMs for around $400.00 which seems too good to be true, and only a 1 year warranty. Online rebuilding services (Innovei, Auto Computer Exchange, etc.) seem shady, and the prices vary wildly. I'm trying to get a hold of Bob Wagner to see if he has one available, which is what I'm leaning towards at this point.

I would check all grounds and other connections pror to jumping/concluding the ECM is faulty. Clean, brush and dielectric grease everyone you can find. The ecm is very finicky with ground connections

Thanks, will do. My truck inconveniently broke down a couple hundred miles away so I have another mechanic looking at it. He said the grounds all seemed good but I'll have him brush up the connections and hit them with dielectric grease before I buy an ECM. I'm having a hell of a time finding one anyway. . . . .
