Dreaded P1694 code

USSPRINCETON, the P1693 code is only telling you that a code has been set in both the PCM and ECM. You will need to read other codes to find out what caused it.
Disconnecting the batteries will reset some codes but many are reset by a number of engine starts without the fault reoccurring or by using a code reader with the reset capability.

Thanks for all the help guys. Very much appreciated. Saved me alot of money. Prolly around $800.00. Checked all of the pins as noted above and was not able to fix the problem. I ordered one from autocomputerexchange. It was 520 shipped to me. I will hopefully get it soon and put it in. I don't like driving my little 2000 V6 dakota around. Not near as much fun, atleast it is still a dodge. I'll post results when i get it in.

I've also have a P0500, P1763 & P0216 along w/ P1693. I'm going to change the speed sensor & gov. press sensor/selenoid. If the P0216 doesn't go away then I will change IP. Along w/ cam sensor. Then the ECM. Thanks Dave any info is very helpful.

Well changed the speed sensor took care of the P0500, gov. press sensor/selenoid took care of the P1763. Changed the PCM, probably didn't have to. Still have the P0216 & P1693. Going to change IP. Hope it fixes the P1693 or I'll change the ECM. Like I said new to the Cummins.

300 to install that is a ripoff, takes me 10 minutes to take one off and put another on,but you might want to let them do it,so that if something goes wrong they get the bill.

P1694 – No CCD message received from ECM. This is a bus communication failure between the PCM and ECM and will set companion codes (P1693) in both.
Before spending money on a new ECM, try removing the ECM connector and check pins:
30 – Ground
40 – CCD bus –
41 – CCD bus +
Also check the PCM module connector C3 pins:
28 – CCD bus –
30 – CCD bus +
I would closely inspect those connections for crud or corrosion and try some electrical contact cleaner followed by dielectric grease.
Good luck.

Could you give me a run down on how to do this and what to look for? I have the code on the dash but there's nothing wrong with the truck it runs and drives fine and the check engine light will go off every now and then any help would be appreciated thanks.
