Dreaded P1694 code

Having trouble with stahling issues. It will all of the sudden just stahl when driving down the road. It is like someone turned the key off. It may come right back on or it may stay off until i pull off of the road and turn the key off. When i turn the key back on it starts right up most of the time. Sometimes i have to turn the key on and off a few times. It has always started though. I pulled DTCs.

P0234 TC Overboost
P1693
P1694

I have checked all connections that i could think of. I have read all the posts in here that came up on my search and seems like alot of people have the same code but dont know if it causes and problems or not. Any ideas.

That is what i have come up with as well. Not sure what that means though. Does that mean something is wrong or just a comminication problem between modules???

Was told by a local mechanic that it may be a camshaft sensor that is causing the stutter and sometimes stahl. Any ideas or comments on this?

Installed cam sensor and still having the problem. Heard that it may be a map sensor. Called the dealer and they said no such thing on our trucks. Any ideas on what it may be.

I got a new map(boost) sensor and installed it as well. NO DICE
So i took it to the dealer to have them look at it and they are telling me that it is te ECM. They want 1135 for the ecm and 300 to put it in. Seems pretty steep. Anybody have any ideas where one might be able to get one at a better price or does that sound reasonable. Thanks

The prices at the dealers around here vary allot, call several of them for a price.

P1694 – No CCD message received from ECM. This is a bus communication failure between the PCM and ECM and will set companion codes (P1693) in both.

Before spending money on a new ECM, try removing the ECM connector and check pins:
30 – Ground
40 – CCD bus –
41 – CCD bus +

Also check the PCM module connector C3 pins:
28 – CCD bus –
30 – CCD bus +

I would closely inspect those connections for crud or corrosion and try some electrical contact cleaner followed by dielectric grease.

Good luck.

If needing an ecm check with auto computer exchange 500ish with a warranty. They are remans/rebuilt

http://www.autocomputerexchange.com/...ts.asp?cat=185

There are a few other places out there as well. There are couple places where you can send yours in and they will repair for less.

If they are charging 300 to install it they are out of their mind. It is 3 bolts (10mm iirc) + one for the connector(allen head). You will need some extensions but they are not that hard to get too. One on each side of the unit and one on the bottom center and then the plug screw. Might take you 1/2 an hour. When I have done it I have removed the oil dipstick tube hold down bolt (10mm) so that I can move it a bit for better access.

Working on fixing mine this weekend. I get a 1693 code. Funny cause I just bought a PCM from autocomputerexchange for 379.00 with shipping. Got it Tuesday the 4th going to put it in on Saturday. And going to check the connections Bend Valves talked about. New to this.
