I am kind of surprised at how little there is to be found on replacing the stock nylock spindle nut on a Dana 80. So I come to the knowledge pool here for some advice. Will Dana 60 replacement nuts work? I understand that series 60's, 70's, and 80's all have 2"X16tpi nuts. If that is correct does the Stage8 spindle nut system for the Dana 60 work on the Dana 80? It also appears the 14bolt axles use a 2X16 nut and Dorman has a replacement 3 piece system using part numbers 615-132, 615-141, 615-140. Like I said, I ant to get rid of the nylocks so what replacement is working for you guys?

The original nylock nuts should not be reused and I want a better solution.

That goes for any nylon lock nut, they are always a one time use only. I just don't understand the need for a better solution? It's one of those things if it isn't broke don't fix it. If it's coming loose on you I bet you have another issue that's causing it to work itself loose.

I am replacing a leaking wheel seal. I ordered the stage 8 Dana 60 locking nuts since they are supposed to be the same diameter and thread. We will see how that works out. Should be here Monday or Tuesday.

Well, the operation was a success. The Stage 8 Dana 60 kit did work on my 80. Nice upgrade from the stock nylock nut.
