Brake hose to caliper..

I'm putting this post up to remind everyone to check your brake lines and hoses on a regular basis..
I was hauling a skid loader, two 9 foot snow buckets, along with a half of pallet of salt for sidewalks. I was attempting to slow down for a red light when I noticed I had to get on the brake pedal harder than normal.. I was thinking to myself something isn't right when I felt the brake pedal go to the floor and lost all hydraulic braking in the truck.. I ended up hitting the trailer brakes and putting the truck up into a snow bank before the busy intersection. Thankfully nobody got hurt.. turns out the front left brake hose to the caliper let go.. I was able to fix it on the side of the road with help from a friend. Easy 15 min job, but I can go without the feeling of no brakes when coming up to a busy intersection..

Just a quick reminder to keep an eye on all brake components!!
Stay safe everyone!

Scary enough loosing your brakes but to have a heavy load behind you doesn't make it any easier to get tons of equipment stopped. Glad you kept it under control and were able to stop without anyone getting hurt. Good job

Pickup some braided stainless lines as replacement and you'll be good to go, resisting any tire rub/wear, cracking, corrosion or line burst. I found mine on fleabay for $99. Glad no one was hurt

Scary stuff man. It takes real presence of mind to remember to hit the trailer brakes in a sudden emergency like that. Glad that no one was hurt. I will be giving my brake hoses a REALLY good check over today!

Cheers!

I always check the brakes and hoses when I have truck in shop for service, along with everything else but safety comes first. These California bus company's have much to learn about staying in business these days.
