Another Engine Swap Question, info anybody

Long time no posts
Have the 53,,,,,98.5 CPL2513 215hp
Have found a bus with a 99 CPL2685 225hp (allison AT on it) low miles.
Will it fit???
Cummins says the block and long block are the same.
Anybody have any info. Its a 10hr drive to see it.
TIA

Probably very different injection, I'd call the guy at Blue Chip. He has a lot of knowledge on the various Cummins applications.

Thanks, did some digging.
The pumps are different , will swap those, will strip it to a long block and move the parts over.
Not sure what the pump difference are,, maybe thats the extra 10hp????

There is quite possibly some differences in the cam in regards to where the torque and hp are too, may be an advantage, but will depend on your rear and trans gearing.

Ya its hard to say where they got the extra HP.
Could be injectors pump cam compression timing who knows.
I registered both with cummins to be able to compare parts numbers.
One interesting thing that comes up on the bus engine, there is still an open campaign for the VP44 and lift pump!!!! Looks like a free replacement!!!
But the engine must still be in the bus.
But this is not offered on the dodge engines,,
Well the swap is Septembers project.

cannot say for sure..as in I've never done a swap like that..

engine only - shouldn't be a problem..keep both ECMs
engine and tranny..which Allison? 545 maybe..newer you'll need to tranny computer and it might take some work.. and driveshaft work..

do able.. I would think so..
215-225hp change..that nothing..change the fuel a little..got a programmer?
larger injectors? my dad's motorhome 2003 vintage..5.9 24v, allison 3000 tranny and 300HP..his motor home is push 24K lbs..and it does just fine..
so why do pickups have 215 hp?? my bet is Dodge limited the cummins so the 47re would live..otherwise they have to redesign the tranny. they did it the Jeep Liberty CRD too..

-dkenny
ps I'm just chomping at the bit to upgrade my injectors..no time at the moment..then a smarty..350HP or so

I just did a injector part number check and they are different.
I did not get the allison,,,,
I have the RV(60hp?) injectors already in the 53 block and the 60 hp super chip.
Had an edge easy it went bad,, $800 bills!!!
Also interesting is the lift pumps look the same but different part numbers.
I have a shift kit and aftermarket TC, been good for 250,000kms
But have done the front end rear end and tranfer case,,, what next??
