The factory airbox draws air from the passenger side fender well. Does a real good job too until you start increasing the power.

Some guys have drilled holes in the bottom of the airbox, but I am not sure if this increases air flow, turbo whistle, or both.

I installed a NAPA BHAF and made a heatshield from the template I got somewhere on this site. It is a full round air filter and it fits the stock intake elbow and clamp. IIRC its a 2709.

If you live in a warm climate you can take out the grid heaters and get a freer flowing pre-cooler from Banks to really open things up.

The factory air box flows plenty of air for most average HP levels. The problem isnt flow as much as it is that the air box is prone to leaking and allowing dust to get past the filter. BHAF's are a good option for added air flow, added filtration, and added time between filter replacement.

Here's a photo from when I ran a BHAF. Worked well for me until I bought a Scotty Air II.

I did the BHAF when I found the bottom of my factory airbox cracked all to garbage...It''s been on since 12/07. I drilled a hole in the top of if and installed the filterminder from the factory box. It's still doesn't show any restriction....
