abs light and brake light on

2 days ago after work I started my truck and let it warm up for a minute. when I came back, the abs light and brake light stayed on . since then I have checked reservoir and wiring which both seem good. it is a 2wd abs. I was wondering if it is the abs sensor on the rearend that could have went bad. Also my speedometer doesn't start working until 20 mph. I've done a search (and damaged wiring and sensor is all I came up with). Any other idea's before I get a new sensor?

Do a Google search on this topic as there are a few reasons for the lights coming on. For me it was just the brake pedal switch under the dash. Its plastic and had connection issues which unknowingly was keeping my cruise from working and the brake lights on all the time. Replaced it and all is good.

thanks guys I should have probably used google first. I think i'll start with rear abs sensor as that seems to be the symptoms, with the speedo too.

If I remember correctly....there is a jumper harnes that goes from the sensor itself (on pumpkin) to the chassis harness that is prone to failure. Check that first.

The rear differential speed sensor can get covered in oily gunk and metal shavings. You can try removing it and cleaning it or just replace it, but if the speedo is acting up then its most likely that sensor.
