2002 dodge, gelled up

used the howes on a 1/4 tank, filled it up. now have 911 in it, and a second quart of howes. been letting it idle and just now heard it die in the drive way. I am tired of this cold weather won't run ****. if I can get it to run and drive it down to 1/4 tank will fill it with the number 1 at twice the cost of regular fuel. as I say it just died in the drive. going out to look it over.
2002 dodge, fass 150, juice with attitude set at 3 or drive mode.

have 2 kids that I drop off at day care every day, need this thing to run or I am done and gone suburban shoping. I love the power, the pay load, but this cold weather **** I am done. hour before it starts to defrost the windshield. plugged in...

I love the power, the pay load, the hauling of it all... but got kids and this is not good. I want them to be safe.

How cold is it outside there?

Even straight #2 should be good to the 20's

Check the fuel filter ? Could be ths contributing to the diesel dying if dirty.

-29C here right now and dropping. No way #2 would work here.

As said when did you last change the fuel filter? Did you crack the drain on the bottom and drain the water out?

I change my filter every 2nd oil change and at the beginning of the winter (Oct). If you can open the drain **** on the bottom of the filter housing and drain the water out.

I was wondering if they got an extra heavy hit of Biodiesel.

Seems like a lot of fuel issues so far this year, not as bad as 2010 was, but its getting there.

I have a 2013 and had it plugged in all night, it was gelled at -25f this morning or was trying to. It'd get up to 1500 rpms and die after idling for 30 mins to warm up. I don't know what the deal is but it got running and had the check engine light come on. Put a whole bottle of power service in it, ran till I shut it off light was still on though. This is some really shitty fuel lately.

I was also told to change the filter. I currently have a 3 micron filter on it. should I get a 6 or 10 micron? I don't want to mess anything else up.

If you are running a stock filter housing, FS19855, 10 micron is fine..........

I can buy a new stock filter, I took mine out when I put in the fass 150. I was looking for the numbers for the 6 or 10 micron filter for the fass system.

Got ya, found this link for you to look at, gives different numbers and microns, some of those filters are stupid expensive.

thank you very much.

the napa number is 3405 for the ff 1010, 23.99$. 12 micron.

I think that I am done with this truck, sorry to say, will get it running and try it with the different filter. But this gelling stuff sucks. I work 12 to 13 hours with no where to even plug it in. Have two young kids to get to and from day care. I think I have lost my trust in this truck.

Transmission lines wore through on the motor cross member and blew the tranny, 3000.00$
motor computer went out, 1100.00.
rear end ate the pinion bearing. 550.00

when I got it I put in the edge juice with attitude monitor, the fass 150 fuel pump.

replaced the heater core, what a ***** that was.

have the radiator completely covered with card board and still the heater sucks.

Hate to hear that, I decided to get away from the automatic myself, but other than killing a TC lockup, I never had a thing go wrong with my auto........and I religiously have avoided electronic diesels........ But yea, if you don't think you can trust it, I wouldn't own it myself.

Be aware though, lines rub through on many older vehicles, and rears go on many older vehicles as well......

I am still baffled as to why you are having a gelling issue unless it is the ultra fine filter, I can't say I have seen any #2 gel up at 20 degrees.
