Wubber Gwoves (Guantes Mechanico)

Hey guys,

Been wearing rubbers / latex / Nitrile glove for as long as I can remember mechanican on my rides, doing painting, cleaning up dog poo stuck to my shoes, prostate exams for friends . I've had and good gloves, crappy gloves, and in between are my experience.

Found what millions of folks have been using (well, maybe I'm exaggerating), but these gloves fit very well, and are relatively cheap. They're very durable as well without being too thick. I've been using them with solvents and they don't fall apart for quite a while, which is more than I can say for a lot of gloves I've tried.

I guess, generally I would pay about $15 to $19 a box depending on where I got them. Ordered these from Amazon, and when you buy them by the 10 per case quantity, they're down to $8.00 or so a box, which saves me $6 a box on average.

Very good gloves, and I thought I'd share.

Got something good or better than these, post them up.....

I get cheapo 5mil ones from Harbor Freight (Hazard Fraught) for a couple bucks a box.

Don't seem to tear too often but if they do just grab another pair and continue.

Keep a box in the shop, in the truck and one in my desert trailer.

I ordered one box of the extra large to try them out. The do run a tad small, so good idea to test drive them. Go for The xx large

X large Fit me perfect. I don't have large hands, and we all know what that means

I get them cheaper than that,
I pick up the used ones from the local clinic and just rinse them out, saves me a lot of money.

Not really, but it would save a lot of money

I have been wearing them for about 20 years now, back when only doctors wore them.
I would get looks from some of the people I would work with, like you think my house is dirty?

Actually yes some people are pigs.
I would buy medical grade gloves until the glove fad caught on, I think I bought my last box from Auto Zone.

Sometimes I will go through 10 pairs of gloves on one job.

Jim.

Mostly, I don't use them.

I bought a box of large from Harbor freight but I can't get them on my hands without tearing them which renders them useless. I haven't been back to see if they have XL size. I just wash my hands frequently with Dawn and mostly just let the black dirt wear off. Usually it's about gone by the time the next job of wrench twisting comes around. If I need to do something that requires me getting strong solvents on my hands for a very long time then I go borrow the wife's dishwashing gloves and buy her a new pair. That ain't very often though. The worst problem I had was with carbolic acid which took a while to heal up but gas/diesel/oil/paint thinner/whatever I just limit my exposure and don't worry about it. I find that my fingers need to feel whatever I'm working with. If it's that rough then I just use a pair of leather gloves for the shoveling and such.

I find that when I am wearing nitrile gloves that I am able to stick my hands in some nasty things that I would never be able to without them, also they tend to suppress my gag reflex if I get my fingers into something rather stinky or slimey.

The worst is when you are elboe deep in something nasty and realize there is a finger missing off one of your gloves.

I can't stand gloves. They never fit my hands. Short skinny fingers with a fat palm relative to the fingers... Plus I just don't like it. And I'm cheap.

Dish soap and a soft scotch brite pad work well for getting the grime off the mitts

Well then.

Have you considered volunteering at the local jailhouse's frisking room?

I did check in to it but apparently I am not allowed to club them before frisking so really why even bother then.....
