Today I cleaned up my rear driveline. when I went to replace the U-joints SDH-5-160X it wouldn't fit the slip yoke that's the second time this week that happened. first the front with a 5-786X now the rear. I have never had this problem.
Edit I got the rear ADH-5-160X to fit. I fished the old one out of the garbage can and compared the new one to it. the only difference is the spokes on the cross are .010 bigger around. I ended up rocking the cross with one hand and taping the outside end with a brass hammer. a quick check for damage and back to the normal routine..

or Goat burgers, Goat hotdogs, goat on a stick...
Ummmm.... I'm hungry...
Spent yesterday driving the brick around for materials for a job coming up. Had this kid in a Quik Chek offer me his entire bank account for my dodge. Who knows ? Maybe he had $1 million in there, and I passed up a good thing.
He said he had a 1st gen, and some dude offered him $14k for it, and he took the money. He regrets it now, and wants my truck to replace it. I said ......
Uh... No.
Sure was fun driving her around all day, windows open, A/C on to keep me cool....
Fun..

Well I finally go to changing out my rusted rockers and lower fenders, just shot the color this morning. She's also getting a new carpet and stainless sill plates. Also I did the door stiffener mod and I'm really impressed with the result.
The fender isn't bolted in at the bottom yet that's why the gap looks so horrible.

Finally had a couple of days of freedom to get more done to my project.
All electrical connections to the engine made. Vibration damper, fan pulley, belt and belt tensioner installed. Fuel return lines connected to the steel lines at the frame. Fuel supply connected to the VE inlet.
Dipstick and tube installed. Throttle linkage and brackets mounted and connected. I plumbed the tubing for the boost gauge in the air horn rather than in the head as it was before. Looks a bit cleaner since you can't see it from the front.
I took the driveshafts to a driveline shop for balancing and to have new non-greasable Spicer u-joints and a center (carrier) bearing installed. The shop found that the long tube was tweaked lightly and needed straightening.
Once the intermediate shaft was in, I filled the transmission with 6qts. of Amsoil Synchromesh 5W-30 MTF.
The engine was filled with 1.5gals of PDD's oil. The remaining 1.5gals with go into the pre-oiler and the majority of it will fill the oil rifle and passages prior to the first start-up.

Took the drive shaft out of the truck after replacing the rear u joint and still having a grinding click. Pretty **** sure this ones the problem!
I'm 6'5", 240, equipment opperator and I could barely get the joint to rotate!
One cap had broken needle bearings and the other no joke had the dust needle bearing make when they are ground into a fine powder!

These joints were Spicer non greaseables, granted they are probably 10 years old.
I'm going with Spicer 5-160x greaseable as I get under truck once a week to grease at work when I grease my machine. Just part of daily life for me, they won't get forgotten.
