No, they are very very rare. But like the diesels, when one shows up they want a premium price. Most people won't part them out, so you are looking at $4500 to $8000 for a totaled parts truck.

I did talk to the guy last night and he says he has a 47RH 4X4 diesel. He's asking $300. I'm going to look at it tonight. I'm going to have the neighbor that did my 01 tranny rebuild this one the same way, everything short of billet shafts.
Now get this. There is a guy that has a 92 just like mine with a blown transmission. He needs to get rid of it because he is about to rotate out and will sell it to me cheap if he can't find another buyer. I may be able to give him a better solution. If I do get the RH, I can sell him my A518 to get him back on the road.

Good deal. Can I ask a favor of you? When you have it apart could you count the number of lobes on the inner and outer pump rotors for me? I would appreciate it.

Are you wanting the lobes from an 47RH or would an RE work?? I can pull the pump on one of my core RE's and count them.

Well, this just keeps getting more interesting by the day. I've been running an add in Craig's list for a couple months looking for a transmission and no calls until after I dropped the add. Got a call from a transmission shop that is closing down says he has a 47RH built up (stock) and on the shelf that he will sell at cost. That will save me some $$$ I can turn around and put into upgrading it.

I am going to have to shorten that section of drive shaft by 1.25" to accommodate the thicker transmission adapter plate. So I bought one to butcher. I don't know if there is a length difference between the 2 transmissions that would change this dimension. I haven't found any data about that. I would like to have that and the rear mount plate made up and ready before the transmissions are swapped. Don't want to tie up anyone's lift longer than I have to.

The Getrag two piece drive shaft is longer than the A-518 Driveshaft on the Ex-cab long bed '92/'93s
Let me know what sort of transmission mount you need, as I bet I have one in the shop.

IIRC the 1st gen plate is 3/4 of and inch.
The 2nd gen plate is 1 1/2 inch thick

This would only mean a 3/4 inch difference in depth.

Actually I think the only length difference will be in your adapter plate, I am fairly certain the 47RH is the same overall length as the earlier OD trans.

I know the 47RE is significantly shorter.

The 1st gen plate is 1 1/4, the 2nd gen plate is 2 7/16. Measured them both Wednesday.
As far as the RE/RH possible length difference, it must be in the OD unit. I ran across some empty front cases and they were said to be interchangeable.
Oliver, I sent you an email.

Cougar sorry for just guessing at the adapter plate thickness last night, rather than going and measuring one..
Yes it is the OD unit that makes them a different length on the 47 RE and 47 RH.
I got the E-mail picture and have one of those for you.

No worries, I plan way ahead. I like to have everything ready before I start. So having all the nitty gritty details is important to me. Getting things fabricated or modified takes more time around here. Like the drive shaft shortening will take 2 weeks. There are only 2 shops that can do it and they are always booked up. Simple welding isn't too bad, but machining is another one of those long lead times.
